Command-Tab Plus 2 overview

Command-Tab Plus 2 by MacPlus Software is an enhanced, keyboard-centric tool for managing running applications and windows on macOS (requires macOS 11.5 Big Sur or later). It addresses the inconveniences of the standard switcher when dealing with a multitude of open programs.

Main Features
  • Quickly Switch Between Applications: Allows for fast selection of the desired application using digital shortcuts.
  • Convenient Window Switching: To quickly switch between the windows of the selected application, you can call up Command-Tab Plus and then press Z or ~.
  • Isolated Workspaces (Spaces): By default, it only displays the icons of apps running on the current display or space, which helps to isolate applications and maintain order. This function can be disabled in the app settings.
  • Hide Not Used Applications: Hides the icons of inactive (hidden) apps, allowing you to quickly switch only between those currently in use. This is handy if you have many background apps.
  • Customizable Appearance: Provides built-in themes (e.g., "Wood Shelf Theme," "Snow Leopard") and allows users to create their own.
  • Customizable Hotkeys and Filters: Users can set the application switcher to be called up with their preferred keyboard shortcut (e.g., Command + Tab (⌘ + ⇥), Option + Tab (⌥ + ⇥), Alt + Tab (⌥ + ⇥)).
  • Apple Silicon Support: Features native support for both Apple Silicon (M1–M4) and Intel chips.

Reliability: 3.0

Unfortunately CPU usage is much higher than Witch (which does most of the same) or KeyBoard Maestro (which does a lot more and I have running normally anyway). Command-Tab Plus regularly jumps up to 10 or 12% CPU usage on an M1 Max, when not at those numbers it's at 4 or 5%. Witch is mostly invisible and rarely uses 1 or 2%. Why would one want an alternate command-tab utility? In my case, I keep my dock invisible and on a secondary monitor. The native switcher always shows on the dock monitor. That's a disaster for my use.

Hi Paganel- I imagine that I use the built-in command-tab, conservatively, about a billion times a day:-) And I use command tic (not sure the name of that character) to move among documents within an app. And, I see that you have glowing reviews, so I have a simple question and with no negativity intended: what's the difference? Wouldn't some sort of comparison chart be useful, showing what the built-in utility does and what yours does? Also Butler, and LaunchBar?It would help me because I am not seeing it, though clearly many others DO see it. Thanks.
